Acne Treatment

Acne may be a common skin condition, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating

Acne is an extremely common skin disorder that causes spots and painful bumps on the skin. While acne typically starts during puberty, it can also effect adults.

What is acne?

Acne is a skin condition that affects the skin’s oil glands and hair follicles. Acne occurs when your hair follicles become blocked with oil and dead skin cells. This can present itself as whiteheads, blackheads, pustules or cysts, and often leaves scarring on the skin. Acne is most noticeable on the face, but can also appear on the shoulders, back and buttocks. Unfortunately, the effects of acne are not just skin deep and often leads to low self-esteem and self-confidence.

What can be done to treat acne?

Acne will typically go away on its own, however this can sometimes take many years. Luckily, there are treatments available that can help clear acne more quickly. Introducing the Sciton BBL Laser, the ‘Rolls Royce’ of cosmetic lasers. BBL lasers are a cutting-edge acne treatment that use the power of light to comfortably and effectively clear acne without the use of creams and medicine. Known as the world’s most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device, BBL delivers light energy deep into your skin to stimulate and regenerate your skin cells. What does this leave you with? Clear, healthy and radiant skin.

How is the procedure performed?

A thin film of gel will be applied to your skin, followed by the BBL treatment. First, the skin will be treated with blue BBL light to kill and eliminate acne causing bacteria at its source, deep down in the pores. Afterwards, the skin is treated with yellow BBL light to reduce inflammation and acne-associated redness and scarring, leaving behind healthy, luminous skin. The energy from the pulse infrared and visible light will prime the upper layers of the skin to increase collagen production, which is a structural protein that the body uses for wound repair, including acne marks. BBL treatments for acne are simple, quick, pain-free and require no downtime. Treatment sessions last between 20-30 minutes.

How Do You Treat Acne Scars

Who is this treatment suited towards?

This treatment is appropriate for mild to moderate acne. BBL is particularly effective in teenage acne, adult hormonal acne for men and women, and women who experience localised acne on their chin.

How can I achieve the best results?

To achieve the best results, a series of four treatments every two weeks is most effective. However, some patients may need periodic touch up treatments depending on acne type and severity. Along with an effective at home skin care regimen designed for acne-prone skin, you can experience significant long-term results.
