Arm Lift Surgery

An arm lift reduces excess skin and fat in the arms between the shoulders and elbows

It is a contouring procedure to provide a smoother shape without bulges as much as possible, but also maintaining important structures that traverse the arm for function of the upper limb including nerves, muscles and blood/lymphatic vessels. Please note that if the bulk in the arm is around deep structures in the muscle layers, it cannot be addressed with a brachioplasty.

The risk with the arm being a circular part of the anatomy is removing too much skin. Only small amounts of skin excision is usually required to re-contour and close the skin with little tension, allowing good healing and scars that don’t end up stretching or becoming overactive. Liposuction can be a great adjunct to remove excess fat below the skin around the arm so different areas of stubborn fat deposition can be addressed while keeping the skin excision and eventual scarring on the inside of the arm.

If fat excess and skin laxity is mild, liposuction or even non-surgical fat reduction and skin tightening treatments may suffice. Ask our clinic staff about these treatments.

Brachioplasty procedures are commonly done with other body contouring procedures as patients with extra folds in the arms tend to have more concerning changes in other parts of the body.
