As a result, your breasts may start to sag and may feel heavier. If you have sagging breasts, a breast lift may help correct your condition. Also known as mastopexy, a breast lift involves the use of a variety of incision patterns and techniques to raise the breasts and tighten the surrounding tissue. Please check our breast lift before and after photos here. Potential candidates for a breast lift You are a potential candidate for the procedure if: You don’t have a bleeding disorder. You don’t smoke. You have enlarged areolas. You have fully developed breasts. You have sagging breasts. You have realistic cosmetic goals. How a breast lift is performed On the day of the procedure, your surgeon will administer general anaesthesia. This will help prevent any discomfort during the surgery. Depending on your breast condition, your surgeon will create different incision patterns to permit lifting of the breast. Once the incision is made, your surgeon will lift the underlying breast tissue to correct sagging. Your nipple and areola will be repositioned to achieve firmer and more youthful breasts. Excess breast tissue and skin are also removed to reshape your breasts. Once your desired breast contour is achieved, your surgeon closes the incisions using sutures. To drain any excess blood or body fluid, a thin tube may be temporarily placed under your skin. A sterile dressing is then placed on your incision lines to protect the wound. Recovery after a breast lift During the recovery period, you will need to wear an elastic bandage to support your healing breasts. Swelling, bruising, and pain are normal during the first few days after the procedure. Your surgeon will prescribe pain relievers and anti-inflammatories to manage any discomfort. Depending on the extent of the procedure, you will need to avoid heavy lifting and other strenuous activities to allow your incisions to heal.
