You are experiencing pain in your breasts. You are at increased risk for implant rupture or leakage. You want to change the type of your breast implant. You want to correct implant asymmetry. How breast implant revision is performed The surgical approach for your implant revision will depend on the reason for your procedure. If you want a new breast profile, your surgeon will use your original incision to access your breast implant. If you are aiming for a bigger breast size, the breast pocket needs to be enlarged to accommodate the new implant. For smaller implants, your surgeon may reduce the size of your breast pocket to hold the implant in place. To treat scar tissue formation around the implant, your surgeon will use your original incision to release the scar tissue and insert the new breast implant. This in turn reduces the pressure within your breasts. To address implant rippling, your surgeon uses a different type of breast implant or changes the position of the implant. As a result, the visible folds and wrinkles on the skin are removed. To correct implant asymmetry, your surgeon reconstructs the breast pocket using suturing techniques. This in turn improves the appearance and position of the breast implant. To improve the position of your nipple and areola, your surgeon creates additional incisions in the area which lift and tighten the breast tissues. It allows your surgeon to achieve the optimal position of your nipple and areola.
