Dermal fillers help restore loss of volume for more youthful contours and smoother skin.

Facial volume is gradually lost and the skin becomes thinner.

Why should I have dermal fillers?

The dermal fillers we use at Sculpted Clinic contain hyaluronic acid, which is a natural complex found in tissues including the skin. This complex attracts and holds water and combines with collagen and elastin to contribute to skin structure and elasticity.

Not to be confused with anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers add or return volume. They can be used to treat a wide range of common cosmetic concerns including, but not limited to:

  • Deep lines and wrinkles
  • Under eye tear troughs. Volume loss under the eyes can give a tired and aged appearance. Injectables can be used to restore this volume and give a refreshed look.
  • Nose shape. Dermal fillers can be used for non-invasive reshaping of the nose. This includes improving nasal contours, straightening unevenness, correcting humps or sunken bridges and sculpting the nasal tip. This is a great alternative for those patients not wanting surgery, with less downtime and side effects.
  • Lip volume. Dermal fillers may be used to restore volume, enhance lip shape and create lip definition. As we age, volume loss occurs in the lips, with flattening of the cupid’s bow and appearance of lip lines. Dermal fillers allow for a non-invasive treatment to give the lips plumpness and a youthful appearance.
  • Cheek shape and volume/nasolabial folds. With cheek areas lose volume and flatten causing the skin to sag. This cause the nasolabial folds to deepen and cause jowls. Fillers can be used to add volume beneath the skin to lift and recontour the cheeks to a more youthful appearance.
  • Chin projection. Cosmetic injecatables (fillers) may be used to enhance the size, shape and projection of the chin.
  • Drooping eyebrows

How do dermal fillers work?

The complex in injected as a gel substance, producing instant results that last 12 – 24 months. The fillers we use at sculpted contain a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) to minimise pain and discomfort during the treatment. A topical numbing cream or ice may also be used to further limit discomfort.

Are there any side effects from dermal fillers?

Side effects include injection-site redness, swelling, pain tenderness, lumps/bumps, bruising and discolouration which tend to settle over a few days and usually resolve by.

Dermal Fillers Gold Coast

When it comes to cosmetic injectables, it is possible to go too far. And in doing so, it is actually possible to cause irreversible damage to the injection site. There have been well-documented cases of recipients who had too much filler, which resulted in the blood vessel in the area being restricted so much that the tissue dies, resulting in necrosis. It should be noted that these cases are rare! However, it cements the arguments for having your dermal fillers done by a professional medical practitioner who fully understands the implications of the procedure, and is bound by a code of ethics to ensure your safety.

At Sculpted Clinic on the Gold Coast, our dedicated team of professionals is lead by Board Certified Specialist Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon Dr Raja Sawhney, so you know you are in safe and very capable hands. When you attend your consultation, we will take the time to find out your goals for this procedure, and then work with you to tailor-make a plan to perfectly suit your needs. Often we may recommend that dermal fillers are done in conjunction with muscle relaxant injections to achieve the best possible outcome, but everyone is different, and your plan will be tailor-made just for your needs.
