How To Sculpt Your Body After Weight Loss

How To Sculpt Your Body After Weight Loss

If you’ve lost a considerable amount of weight, you may have noticed some sagging and skin laxity.

While weight loss has numerous benefits, it’s likely that you feel a little worried about areas of drooping skin. The good news is that there are a number of body sculpting procedures available, which are designed to tighten loose skin and improve the contours of the body. Here are some you might consider…

Tone your tummy

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a procedure that works to contour the abdomen to a tighter and slimmer silhouette. Excess skin and stretch marks are a common side effect after significant weight loss, and a tummy tuck is an effective way of addressing these concerns. During the procedure, skin excision is planned so that the scar will sit low in the abdomen and around the groin. This means that it can be easily covered with underwear and swimwear. The abdominal wall is tightened with the use of sutures, and in some cases, surgical mesh.  The skin is then stretched down towards the pelvis and any excess skin is removed, resulting in a firmer, tighter appearance. Get rid of loose skin

After significant weight loss, you may have noticed that your skin has not shrunk in alignment with your body weight loss, leaving you with loose, hanging skin. A lower body lift is often an effective solution, as it addresses excess skin and fat from the entire ‘belt line’. The procedure, also known as a belt lipectomy or lower/circumferential body lift, combines a tummy tuck and buttock lift for an enhanced contour. In many cases, the lower body lift is combined with other body sculpting procedures (such as a thigh lift, brachioplasty, and breast lift) to ensure the best possible results. Tighten your contours

A great way to permanently remove fat cells and smooth the contours of the body, liposuction is a safe and comfortable procedure. At Sculpted, we offer tickle liposuction, which was named for the tickling sensation often experienced during the procedure. The procedure generally takes between one and two hours, during which a numbing fluid is placed through tiny incisions in the body. When you are numb, a vibrating suction cannula is used to remove fat and sculpt the body. For more about this minimally invasive treatment, have a look here.

Reshape your arms

An arm lift, also known as Brachioplasty, is a procedure in which excess fat and skin in the area between the shoulders and elbows is reduced. The procedure helps to provide a smoother shape without bulges, and tightens the skin for tighter, more toned looking arms. In most cases, only small amounts of skin are removed to recontour the arms, which means that scars are minimal. Liposuction may be used in conjunction with Brachioplasty to remove excess fat below the skin. Have a look at some before and after images here.

Lift your buttocks

Patients who have lost a lot of weight often find that their buttocks look deflated and flat. Buttock augmentation surgery can help to achieve a shapely bottom with the use of implants or fat transfer. Another option is a buttock lift, in which any excess skin and fat is removed in order to improve the overall shape and profile. The excess skin and fat is removed by means of surgical excision as well as liposuction. To find out more about both buttock augmentation and buttock lift surgery, read more here.
