What is RF Microneedling?

Microneedling is the process of inserting small needles into the skin to encourage skin rejuvenation. RF (radiofrequency) technology delivers thermal energy through the small needles into the dermis, stimulating collagen production. You can achieve renewed skin without the need for surgical procedures.

How does Genius by Lutronic work?

Genius by Lutronic stimulates coagulation, which results in the regeneration of collagen and elastin in the skin. Treatment will renew skin texture, wrinkles, and laxity anywhere on the body. The device includes a state-of-the-art handpiece that enables smooth, quiet, and fast needle insertion for patient comfort and to help protect the top layers of the skin. At the same time, a customised amount of energy is delivered precisely into the dermis. Genius allows for adjustable true depth control, which will enable energy to be delivered in the quantity and depth desired. Treatment time may last from as little as 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area treated. Dr Raja Sawhney played a pivotal role in developing a comprehensive unit to service the demand for breast cancer resection and reconstruction, lower limb trauma and complex head and neck cancer resection and reconstruction. He dedicates a majority of his time to complex and challenging reconstructive surgery for patients who have had deformities, either from birth, from abnormal development, or after trauma or cancer.

was accepted to and commenced advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2007 governed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgery (RACS) and the Australian Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He completed this training and was awarded Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – FRACS (Plast) in 2011.

Will the treatment be painful?

You will feel some pressure and heat; however, Genius enables practitioners to adjust energy settings to cater for individual patient comfort.

What can I expect post-treatment?

You may feel a burning sensation for one to two hours after treatment, but you can cool the treated area with icepacks wrapped in clean, dry gauze or towel to relieve discomfort. You may have some redness and swelling for about three days after treatment as your skin heals. It may take up to a week for this to completely settle. Avoid hot showers or saunas within 24 hours after treatment and ensure to apply sunblock with an SPF of 30+.

Am I a candidate for RF microneedling?
