Treat fine lines and wrinkles

As we age, it is normal for lines and wrinkles to begin to appear on the forehead, around the eyes and around the mouth.

Fine lines and wrinkles can occur when muscles contract to form different facial expressions, causing the overlying skin in the area to frequently crease. Here at Sculpted Clinic, anti-wrinkle treatment, also known as anti-wrinkle injections can temporarily relax these wrinkle-causing muscles. We can combine our wrinkle treatment with other treatments to address skin tone, texture, and other concerns.

Suitable candidates for wrinkle treatment

Treatment with wrinkle relaxers, or cosmetic wrinkle treatment, can be suitable for those who want to treat minor to moderate fine lines and wrinkles.

All candidates for the treatment will need to have a thorough consultation, to assess any possible contraindications and to create a treatment plan that considers patient needs.

Suitable candidates should be in good general health and not have any conditions that can interfere with the treatment, such as underlying nerve conditions. Active infections in the treatment area can be contraindications to the treatment. The treatment cannot be performed on those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those who are under the age of 18.

Candidates for wrinkle treatment should have realistic expectations for the treatment’s results, understand their temporary nature, and be willing to undergo maintenance treatments to maintain results in the long term.

To find out if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic wrinkle treatment, please contact our team to book your initial consultation.

Your consultation at Sculpted

Your consultation at Sculpted Clinic on the Gold Coast will provide you with much more detailed information on the treatment, including how it is performed and what to expect during your appointment. Your treatment can be performed by our highly trained staff, but you will need to have an initial consultation with Dr Sawhney.

Dr Sawhney will assess your desired treatment area, ask questions about any health conditions or medications you are taking, and assess if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment.

If you are suitable for wrinkle treatment, you can then discuss the details of a personalised treatment plan, outlining your specific treatment areas and the level of wrinkle reduction that our team can aim to achieve, according to your personal goals.

You will then be able to discuss the details of recovery and aftercare, such as what to expect in terms of temporary side effects and how they can be managed. You can discuss how soon you can expect to see results and how long these results may last.

An important aspect of cosmetic wrinkle treatment to cover during your consultation is the possibility of complications occurring. Dr Sawhney will outline the possible risks and complications of the treatment and discuss how these can be minimised, prevented or managed should they occur.

The aim of your consultation is to answer any questions you may have, plan for a personalised treatment, assess your suitability for the treatment and allow you to make an informed decision.

How does cosmetic wrinkle treatment work?

Our anti-wrinkle treatments are performed by well-trained staff at the Sculpted Clinic under Dr Sawhney’s supervision. An initial consultation with Dr Sawhney is mandatory for him to assess your needs and personal preferences. Follow-up consults then allow him to fine-tune your regular maintenance treatments to maintain your results in the long term.

Cosmetic wrinkle treatment aims to relax the muscles that are causing the skin to frequently crease and show these fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment sessions are personalised and consider your personal needs, and goals for the results of the treatment. Treatments are quick, typically taking only 15 to 20 minutes.

Results from the treatment can take from one to two days, up to 10 to 14 days to become visible. Once results from the wrinkle treatment are noticeable, they can last for around three to four months, but this varies from patient to patient.

Our wrinkle treatment may also help treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), facial muscle spasms, and migraines. If this treatment option interests you, you are welcome to contact our team to learn more or book your consultation to discuss how the treatment may suit your needs.

Recovery and aftercare

After wrinkle relaxer treatment, you will need to be patient for full results to be visible. Results can begin to show at around one to two days, but it typically takes up to 10 to 14 days to see your final results.

Your treatment results can last for up to three to four months, after which maintenance treatments will be necessary should you want to maintain your results.

While you are able to resume your daily routine straight after your treatment, you should avoid exercise for at least 24 hours. Avoiding excessive heat and sun exposure can also help to prevent any possible complications. We may recommend avoiding lying flat for several hours after your appointment. You will need to avoid applying pressure to or itching the treated area.

The treatment area can show some minor side effects, which our team can provide you with aftercare steps to help manage. Minor swelling, redness, bruising and headaches should resolve within the first week after your treatment. For the first 24 hours after treatment, or a time frame as specified by our team, you will need to avoid wearing makeup or applying strong skincare to the treated area.

Potential side effects

Side effects from wrinkle treatments are generally considered rare, but minor side effects like pain, stinging sensations, bruising, swelling, redness, itching, headaches, nausea and flu-like symptoms tend to resolve during the first week after treatment.

Further side effects can include infection, prolonged healing, bleeding, asymmetrical results, and allergic reactions. If you experience any of these, you will need to seek medical attention or contact our clinic as soon as possible.

During your consultation at Sculpted Clinic on the Gold Coast, Dr Sawhney will take you through any potential risks and side effects prior to your treatment, ensuring you know exactly what to expect and what to do if any complications occur.

All surgical procedures carry risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Costs of wrinkle treatment (anti-wrinkle injections)

Costs of cosmetic wrinkle treatments will need to factor in the details of your personalised treatment plan. These details can depend on your personal needs and preferences, total treatment time, and more.

Due to the personalised nature of the treatment, you will need to discuss your treatment costs during your consultation with Dr Sawhney.

Dr Sawhney will assess your needs and create a plan that you are happy with. The costs will then be calculated before your treatment session, providing you with time to prepare and decide whether to undergo the treatment.

For more information on wrinkle treatment costs, contact our team or book your consultation for the treatment.

More information on anti-wrinkle treatment

Will my face look frozen after the treatment?

Wrinkle treatment should not produce a frozen appearance. The aim of the treatment is to achieve subtle results, relaxing the muscles in the treatment area and preventing them from frequently contracting. After treatment, you should still be able to smile, eat and move your face as normal.

Should I expect wrinkle treatment to be painful?

Everyone has a different pain threshold but generally, wrinkle treatment is considered to be a tolerable treatment. If you really are concerned about discomfort, a numbing agent can be applied 30 minutes before your appointment.

Do I need to add volume to fill certain wrinkles?

Treatment to add volume to the face works differently than wrinkle treatment. Wrinkle treatment is focused on inhibiting muscle contractions, while treatment to add volume aims to fill the targeted area. Generally, dynamic wrinkles (fine lines and wrinkles that show with certain facial expressions) can be treated with wrinkle treatment. Sometimes, static wrinkles (lines that are still visible when the face is still) may need some volume added to help reduce their appearance. A combination of both treatments can sometimes be used. During your consultation. Dr Sawhney will create a tailored treatment plan that meets your specific requirements. You will be able to learn more about how each treatment works and which treatment option may be the most suited to your needs.

Is there anything that would prevent me from getting wrinkle treatment?

Pregnant or breastfeeding patients will not be able to receive anti-wrinkle treatment. If you have any underlying nerve conditions, you also won’t be a suitable candidate for this treatment. Other health conditions may also be contraindications to cosmetic anti-wrinkle treatment. You will also need to be older than 18 to undergo the treatment.

During a consultation with Dr Sawhney, your suitability for the treatment will be thoroughly assessed. The treatment will be tailored to your needs and include any important health considerations.
